As a school we are working hard to achieve our overall attendance target this year of 96% working with our parents to ensure that each child attends school regularly and on time. Attendance and punctuality are essential to ensuring that your child reaches their potential at school. They are also important life skills that your child will need as they become young adults and enter the world of work. It is vital that the children attend regularly, and your child should be at school in good time for the start of the school day, every day the school is open, unless they are genuinely ill or there is some other unavoidable reason.

Please inform the school if your child will be absent before 8:25am on the first and all subsequent days of absence either by calling the school on 0207 736 5869 or by sending us an email admin@sulivanprimaryschool.org.uk

We ask that wherever possible appointments with doctors, dentists or hospitals should be made outside school hours or in the holidays. If this is not possible please provide the details of the appointment to the school office in advance. If parents and carers do not provide a reason for the absence it remains unauthorised until a reason is provided.

If a pupil’s attendance falls below 93%, you will be contacted by the Family Liaison Office where support will be offered, and medical evidence requested. If there is no improvement in the attendance rate the parent/carer will be invited in for a meeting with the Family Liaison Officer and the Headteacher.

A continuous lack of improvement will involve an Attendance contract between the school and the family, which will be reviewed over an agreed period. The school may also involve the Attendance Officer at Hammersmith and Fulham, which could result in a Penalty Notice. The persistent absence threshold is 10%. If a pupil's individual overall absence rate is greater than or equal to 10%, the pupil will be classified as a persistent absentee.

This school’s policy is not to authorise holidays during term time.  Any applications for leave in term time must be made in writing to the Headteacher (Please use the special term time absence form below.)  There is no automatic right to term time leave of absence, and your request is likely to be declined except in the most exceptional circumstances.   Each application will be considered on its own merit, and the attendance record of the child concerned will be taken into account when making a decision.

Please read the parent summary of the school Attendance Policy for more details.
