Governance

Sulivan Primary School is part of United Learning Trust. Whilst the Trustees hold ultimate responsibility for the governance of the school, they delegate certain responsibilities to the Local Governing Body (LGB). There are four meetings a year and Governors have specific links within the school so that they are well informed and part of the school improvement cycle.

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

I would like to welcome you to Sulivan Primary School – a happy, busy, confident place where all our children can learn and thrive.

I am proud to be the Chair of Governors at Sulivan Primary School, which is now part of United Learning Trust.

Governors are local people who volunteer to work with schools to make a positive contribution to children’s education. We are known as the Local Governing Body (LGB) and have certain responsibilities delegated to us by the Trust.

At Sulivan, we work in partnership with Ms Aldridge and her staff to provide strategic planning, leadership and accountability. We share the school’s vision and values, and we strive to promote the highest possible standards of educational achievement. My team of governors is made up of highly committed people working alongside the Headteacher and her staff to help make the school a safe, happy and educationally aspirational place for all its children.

Who are the school’s Governors?

Chair of Governors – Caroline Langton

I am a Trust-appointed governor. I have been a school governor at several primary and secondary schools since 1996. I originally joined Sulivan in 2004 and I was extremely happy to return as Chair of Governors again in 2015. I have lived in West London for nearly 50 years and have three children and three grandchildren.

Eliza Cockerell – Vice Chair

I am a Trust-appointed governor with a particular focus on finance. I became a governor in 2015 and vice chair in 2018. I qualified as a chartered accountant at a large accountancy firm but have since worked for smaller companies with a focus on finance and operations. I was brought up in West London, lived in Hammersmith after university and still have family here, however being a military spouse means that I am posted across the country

Poppy Johnson

I am Trust-appointed governor. I have been a governor at Sulivan since 2021. A keen interest in education runs in my family as my father was a governor at my school, and I got the bug from him! I am a management consultant by trade and studied languages at university. I have lived in London for over a decade and in my free time enjoy swimming, art, and classical music. I am grateful for the opportunity to be here at Sulivan.

Shireen Jayyusi

I am Trust-appointed governor. I have lived in West London most of my life and was driven to become a governor because I am passionate about education and its critical role in supporting the development of not only children’s intellectual capabilities but also their character and well-being.  I started off my career in investment banking, before moving into business and the start-up world including founding and running my own business.  I am currently working on a new start-up.  I offer significant experience across finance, strategy, marketing and communications, project management and general operations.

Lucy Asare-Akoto

I am an elected parent governor. I have a daughter at Sulivan and therefore a keen interest in ensuring the success of the school. I am also keen to add value to Sulivan by creating an effective communication channel between the teachers and parentsI am a Human Resources professional and have a passion for learning. I like to use this perspective to assist Sulivan to empower the children to be their best selves and engaged learners at Sulivan and beyond.

Ishane Rihane

As a proud parent of two daughters studying at Sulivan (Year 1 and Year 6), I am genuinely invested in the growth and development of this wonderful school. My primary interest as a parent governor lies in supporting our school's endeavours towards nurturing children's education and personal development, ensuring that they have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive both academically and personally.

I have a master degree in Applied Mathematics and Finance and have spent all my career in the field of financing infrastructure projects abroad (Europe and Africa). I have practical experience managing different stakeholders and aligning them towards a common goal and I would like to think that this is an asset as a parent governor.

Wendy Coombes

In September 2022 I was appointed as an Associate Member of the Governing Body having previously been a full member and at one time Vice Chair. I have been associated with Sulivan School for many years supporting Ms Aldridge and her team, working with the Hammersmith and Fulham Education Department and later as an independent Education Consultant. I continue to enjoy supporting the school through work with the Governing Body.
